How Can I Perform Umrah From Madinah

Umrah is a sacred journey for Muslims around the Globe that everyone wants to perform at least once in their lifetime. If a person residing in Median or is at Medina for some reason and want to perform Umrah they can perform it but you need to understand that Umrah is done only in Makkah so if you are living in Medina or if you are at Medina for some reason and want to perform Umrah you have to visit the Miqat of Medina i.e. Dhu Al-Hulayfah and have to start your Journey of Umrah towards Makkah because Makkah is the only Place where you can perform Umrah. Once you reach the Miqat of Medina i.e. Dhu al-Hulayfah, you need to do the Niyat or Intention of Umrah and once you do the Niyat you are now in a State Of Umrah and will remain in the state of Umrah until you reach the Makkah and perform all the Umrah Rituals. You have to Perform All the Rituals of Umrah starting from Tawaf to drinking plenty of ZamZam water to perform Sa`ii and at the end do Halaq. Once you complete all the rituals properly your Umrah will be done.

What to do in Medina during Umrah

Once you have completed all the rituals of Umrah you can now move to medina. There are plenty of things that a pilgrim can do in Medina during Umrah. Some of the things which you can do are:
1. Pay a visit to the Prophet’s Mosque: Once you are in Medina you can pay a visit to the Masjid Nabvi however, to enter the Masjid Nabvi an appointment is required so make sure you have carried that with yourself if not you won’t be able to enter Masjid Nabvi.

2. Jabl Uhud or Mount Uhud: Jabal Uhud is the famous battleground where the battle of Uhud took place. There you can find Graveyards of fighters who were killed during this battle.

3. Jannat-al-Baqi: This is the cemetery in Medina in which the companions and relatives of Prophet P.B.U.H are also buried. You can also pay a visit there; however, only Males are allowed.
Apart from the above you can also visit various other places like Al Jumuah Mosque, Grave of Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib, Desert of Saleh, The Quba Mosque, Masjid al-Qiblatai and other places as well. Moreover Medina is also famous for shopping so if you want to buy anything for your dear and loved ones you can do shopping as well. There are numerous malls and Old bazaars where you can do shopping.

Is it necessary to visit Medina during Umrah

It is not necessary to visit Medina during Umrah but you can pay a visit as well. There are numerous benefits of visiting Medina as narrated in the Hadith according to Anas, the Prophet P.B.U.H has said: The person who offers 40 prayers consecutively in my mosque, without missing a prayer in between, will secure immunity from the fire of Hell and other torments and also from hypocrisy. Also the Prophet P.B.U.H highly recommended Muslims to visit to three mosques i.e. Baitullah (the Kabah) in Makkah, Masjid Nabvi in Medina, and the Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. So if you have time and will you can visit Medina as well.
