What Is Medina Famous For

Medina is the Holiest Place for the Muslims where each and every Muslim visits during their Hajj/Umrah journey. Medina was called Yathrib in ancient times, located in the Hejaz region of Saudi Arabia. It is about 100 miles from the Red sea and just 275 miles from Mecca by road. Medina is famous for the Prophet's Mosque which the Prophet (S.A.W) himself helped to build. The Mosque is known by the name Prophet's Mosque or Masjid- Nabvi. As narrated by Anas ibn Malik Prophet (S.A.W) says Medina is a refuge. Its trees should not be cut and any sin should be committed in it, and whoever introduces it and commits sin, will experience the curse of Allah, the Angles, and all the people.

What Is Inside Medina
Inside Masjid- Nabvi- Prophet (S.A.W), Abu Bakr Sidiq and Umer bin Khattab is entombed. There is also the Prophet`s Mimber and a place called Riyazul Jannah which is believed to be among the Heaven. Riyazul Jannah is differentiated by the green carpets and the pilgrims that visit the Prophet's Mosque offer Namaz there. A prayer inside Masjid Nabvi is equal to 1000 Prayers whereas a prayer inside Masjid Haram is equal to 1, 00,000 prayers. So praying inside the Masjid Nabvi has Great Importance and rewards as well.

Quba Mosque
In Medina, there is a mosque known by the name Quba Mosque. Quba Mosque was Built by the Prophet (S.A.W) himself upon HIS arrival in Medina. HE used to visit the Mosque Every Saturday and used to offer two Rakat of Sunnah prayers. Narrated by the Hunayf Prophet (S.A.W) has said �Whoever purifies himself in HIS House, and then comes to the Quba Mosque and prays inside it, they will have rewards like the Umrah pilgrims or the reward equivalent to Umrah.

Masjid-i-Qiblatain
It is also a Masjid In Medina. It is believed to be a place where the Prophet (S.A.W) was commanded to Change the Qibla from Jerusalem to Kabba. The mosque is expanded and now it can hold more than 4000 worshippers. There are also other mosques and other places that you can visit during your visit to Medina.

Jannat-ul-Baqi
You can also visit Jannat-ul-Baqi apart from Masjid Nabvi. Jannat-ul-Baqi is the First Cemetery of Medina where various scholars, the Prophet`s family, and companions are buried. In the Prophet's Family Imam Hasan Ibn Ali and Hazrat Fatima-ul- Zehra are also buried there. It is believed that the Prophet (S.A.W) Himself chose this place as a cemetery. However, the cemetery remains Open after Fajr and Asar's prayer and you can visit there during these two times.

Mount Uhud
Mount Uhud is a place where the Battle Of Uhud was fought. Near Mount Uhud, there is also a cemetery where the martyrs of the battle are Buried. 70 martyrs are buried there among which is the Hamza Ibn Abdul Muttalib and the Prophet's Uncle. Mount Uhud is just 4 km from the Masjid Nabvi and you can visit there any time.
