What Are The Benefits Of Umrah

Umrah is the Holy Pilgrimages in the Muslim world that almost everyone wants to perform once in their lives. Umrah can be performed throughout the year too at any age as there is no specified Umrah age limit. Umrah marks the sacred and holy visit of Muslim pilgrims around the world, to the holiest sites of Makkah and Medina. Umrah is a voluntary act of worship but is Sunnah to be performed so every year millions of people perform Umrah every year. Umrah is also known as a minor pilgrimage with numerous benefits and reward throughout the journey.
Umrah is considered as a Sunnah. Since the journey is sacred and holy, it has great spiritual importance as well some of the benefits of doing Umrah are mentioned below:
It Purifies the Soul of a Believer: When a person makes the intention of performing Umrah or did Umrah he has the purified soul same as at the time of his/her birth.
Forgiveness from his sins: A person asks for Forgiveness from his sins from Allah, The Almighty. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: From one Umrah to another is redemption for whatever sins come between them.
Umrah cleanses the body: When one performs the Umrah his body and soul become clean and purified as he gets a chance to seek forgiveness from Allah. It also refreshes the faith of a believer.
Umrah eliminates poverty: Allah himself says spend it on my cause and I will spend on you. So when one performs Umrah and spends his wealth in the cause of Allah, Allah eliminates his poverty.
Correspondent to Jihad: Performing Umrah has the same reward as that of doing jihad as narrated in the Hadith a man told the Prophet (peace be upon him): O Prophet! I have been chosen to perform jihad but my wife has left for pilgrimage and The Prophet (S.A.W) replied, Go and perform Pilgrimage with your wife.
Some Hadith about Umrah
Abu Hurairah (RA) narrates that Prophet PBUH said, “The guests of Allah are three: The Ghazi i.e. who fights in jihad, the Hajj i.e. who performs Hajj, and the Mutamir i.e. who performs Umrah.
Abu Hurairah (RA) narrates that Allah’s Messenger S.A.W said, Umrah is expiation for the sins committed and it removes poverty as well.
The wife of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Ayesha (RA), recounts that Prophet Muhammad PBUH stated, “Whoever leaves his home solely for the purpose of Hajj or Umrah and he dies, nothing will be presented to him nor will he have any liability on the Day of Judgment and it will be said to him, enter into Jannah.
