How to Perform Umrah for Ladies
The main activities for performing Umrah remains the same for men and women but there are some Umrah rules for ladies that are different from men and these are as under:
Unlike men, women do not have to wear the Ihram but they need to cover their body by wearing the loose-fitting clothes usually Abaya.
During Talbiya a sacred recitation male pilgrims are needed to say Talbiyah loudly where as Female pilgrim need to recite Talbiya quietly.
At the end of the sacred rituals of Umrah i.e. taqsir male pilgrims got their head shaved but Female pilgrims are required to cut a small hair which is equal to finger tip in order to make their spiritual journey to end.
Women who are on their menstrual cycles cannot perform the Umrah until their cycle is over. However such a woman should remain in her hotel or apartment and should not enter Masjid-ul-Haram till she takes the bath of purification.
A woman in Iddat(the period a woman must observe after the death of her husband or after a divorce) cannot perform Umrah. She needs to complete the waiting period and then can go for Umrah with a Mahram.
